Raymond MacDonald and Satoko Fujii, Natsuki Tamura and Neil Davidson with Tom Bancroft are forging something that moves beyond the logic of import-export, beyond the limits of trade and cultural hegemony altogether. This is utopian music, not in the sense of proposing some happy new disposition for mankind, nor in the misleading sense of existing in an imaginary no-place, but in the much more positive sense of creating a trans-national, trans-geographical locus in which the other meaning of utopia as a place of beauty is the all in all.
